Fettling is the operation that is required for the removal of sand, scale and the excess material on the casting. This is a very important process as this imparts the finishing to the casting.
At Honest Iron , the same is done in a separate department, called the fettling department. Skilled Labour is recruited to remove access material in the form of fins, flash, gating systems etc.
